The only acceptable slur
Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 08:59:43 AM PDT
As you know, I think a lot about language and the meaning of word. Every word has a connotation, and some have a few. The same word might not mean the same thing in one ear as it does in another.
Slurs like n----r, or f----t and others are unspeakable in almost every social setting. But I've discovered there is one slur that you can say almost everywhere -- even among the most liberal crowd of people you could ever hope to meet.
Fox Still beating the Obama's a Muslim drum
Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 06:10:18 AM PDT
I know nothing fox News does should surprise me. And like a cranky child making a scene in a grocery store for his "Fruit Loops" the best response is none. But I'm going to draw people's attention to Dan Abram's Beat The Press segment last night where Faux News has continued to fan the flames of suspicion about Obama's faith. It is good to know what's out there, and recognize where there Contards who are insisting he's muslim are getting their fodder.

Is it time to retire the word "Rethugs"?

Considering for a moment the Golden Rule, I would like to respectfully suggest that we clean up our linguistic act.

If you have read the couple of diaries I've posted you would know that I currently live in New Mexico, consider Hawaii my home, and believe I'm on the TSA's secondary screening list solely because I'm Mexican. The first two facts are indisputable and the third because I have not gotten a straight answer from any of our great countries government agencies is merely speculation. What many of you wouldn't know is that up until June of 2007, when I received a cease and desist request from the State of Hawaii, I had published a FREE quarterly magazine "Pendejo Magazine" that was very critical of the Washington politics, State politics, and more critical towards the Bush Administration when it came to issues involving the 50th state and this stupid war. Crammed in between porn and snark you could always find the underlying theme of the magazine that simply was: Hawaii is one of the most racist places in America. Although the beaches might be nice and the people are genuine there is always a bit of racism around every corner. Anyways I just arrived in Hawaii for summer vacation and at a coming home party last night at a downtown club everyone wanted to know my opinion about one of the members of the Honolulu City Council's, Rod Tam, comments about undocumented workers here in Hawaii. My opinion below

Fri May 30, 2008 at 02:33:25 PM PDT
The other side is really getting desperate trying to stop the movement and momentum Obama has right now. They're dredging up a so-called World Poverty tax on Americans that will hit each family for an $8,500 bill!
Watch for this to go viral soon!

Coulter fallout begins

Time will only tell whether Ann Coulter's most recent Makaka moment will be enough to unseat her as the darling of American conservatism... but very early returns are starting to come in...
WoPo Editorial Slams George Allen, Hard!
Mon Aug 14, 2006 at 10:15:05 PM PDT
We now all know George Allen's racial slur. This story appears to have some leg. WoPo editorial slams George Allen really hard and I think it deserves a separate diary.
George Allen's America
"MY FRIENDS, we're going to run this campaign on positive, constructive ideas," Sen. George F. Allen told a rally of Republican supporters in Southwest Virginia last week. "And it's important that we motivate and inspire people for something." Whereupon Mr. Allen turned his attention to a young campaign aide working for his Democratic opponent -- a University of Virginia student from Fairfax County who was apparently the only person of color present -- and proceeded to ridicule him.
